Cristo Rey Orange County High School (Santa Ana, CA)

Cristo Rey Orange County High School is located in Santa Ana, CA, and is part of the national Cristo Rey Network, and will open its doors to its inaugural freshmen class in the fall of 2023. Cristo Rey Network schools employ an innovative Corporate Work Study Program that provides students with real world work experiences. In this unique model, every student works an average of five days a month to fund the majority of the cost of his or her education while gaining job experience, growing in self-confidence, and realizing the relevance of their education. Students work in various corporate and business settings including law firms, banks, hospitals, universities, and with other professional organizations.

 

Position Summary:

The Founding Principal will lead Cristo Rey OC in the areas of academics, teaching, and learning using a rigorous academic model, supported by best practices in instruction and assessment to prepare students for college and life. In collaboration with the Founding Leadership Team, the Founding Principal will also serve as the leader in Catholic identity and mission, community engagement, and strategic planning.  The Founding Principal will have the unique opportunity to hire and lead the founding faculty to serve Cristo Rey students.

Desired Qualifications:

Leading the School in its academic programming, the founding Principal must be an expert in instructional leadership while fostering a school culture that values diversity and the unique gifts that all staff, students, and families bring to the school community. In addition, the successful candidate will have:

        A professional approach that seeks to dream up, create, and execute a multi-year strategic plan that aims toward a vision for excellence that encompasses academics, school culture, community engagement, alumni engagement, and partnership with the Corporate Work Study Program

        Experience as an educator with senior administrative experience that will serve as the lead-learner in the school community; with a strong knowledge of current research, best practices, trends relevant to Catholic, urban education, and issues that may be affecting the school’s students and families

        Demonstrated understanding and expertise of data, metrics, and analysis to drive decision making in areas such as communication, student progress and preparedness, professional development, and community engagement. A growth mindset that motivates all community stakeholders to work collaboratively to develop and share best practices to solve challenging problems with nontraditional solutions. Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset, with the ability to effectively lead and motivate faculty and other team members.

        Confidence to serve as the spiritual leader for the school to promote and sustain the school’s Catholic values and mission with the Cristo Rey Institute, the school’s Catholic sponsor, and serve as a liaison with the Diocese of Orange and the Office of Catholic Schools

        A minimum of a master’s degree in an education related field preferred

        Proficiency in Spanish language is desired but not required.

 

Salary competitive and dependent on qualifications.  References will be required.
