Lynda Fairbanks Atkins

Lynda comes to Ruotolo Associates with a background in both consulting and institutional service to non-profits. With more than a dozen years of experience, her credentials include development/advancement, strategic planning and overall non-profit management.

Lynda has redesigned communications, expanded volunteer involvement and stewardship, and mentored executives and staff.  She has designed and built departments based on creating strategic, multi-year plans and is experienced in all aspects of fundraising.  She has worked with boards to increase effectiveness, expand involvement, increase board giving, and to create an economic/business model and a membership scheme.

Following a successful career in the for-profit world, Lynda came to development through volunteer fundraising experiences, and it is that understanding and sensitivity that she brings to clients.  Lynda has a strong interest in fundraising for faith-based organizations and is especially interested in the challenge of melding money and faith.  It is her lived commitment to her faith that enriches her professional service.

Her secular work has focused on education and the arts, including major gifts and senior management positions in organizations such as Northeastern University, the Handel and Haydn Society orchestra, and the Environmental Careers Organization.

Lynda has been recognized by donors and colleagues as a big-picture thinker, skilled at building client connections and managing through change and growth.  While serving as Interim Executive Director for a startup virtual non-profit, she was publically acknowledged by a major Washington think tank as “having brought professional management” to the organization.

An experienced presenter, Lynda has significant corporate speaking experience and training.  She has developed seminars on board effectiveness, meeting management and quality service.  She also served on the adjunct faculty of Northeastern University for several years.

Co-founder and President of New England Light Opera, she also serves on the board of Lifebridge, an organization committed to ending homelessness.

Lynda received a BA in French from Catawba College in Salisbury, NC, and an MBA with a concentration in Marketing from Northeastern University.  A singer and serious cook, Lynda lives on Boston’s North Shore.
