Barbara Perkins has over two decades of experience in fundraising and communications in higher education, healthcare, fine arts and faith-based organizations. Her most recent work has been with Women Aware (New Brunswick) and Interfaith Caregivers of Greater Mercer County.
Barbara has provided leadership for numerous comprehensive campaigns — planning, major gifts, donor relations, volunteer and database management, cases for support — raising millions for endowed funds, capital projects and unrestricted support.
During her tenure at Drew University, Barbara built a record-setting annual giving program, remade the Drew Theological School website and created a development communications program. She earned recognition for this work from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education: Gold Award for Leadership in Educational Fundraising; Silver Award for Student Recruitment Websites; presenter at CASE District II & III conference on “Managing Development Communications: Lessons Learned.”
Barbara received a B.A. in Art History and Archeology from Binghamton University and a M.A. from the Institute of Fine Arts at New York University. Her first career was in museums, including curatorial positions at the Brooklyn Museum and the Newark Museum.
She is a volunteer at the Cross Estate Gardens in Bernardsville, NJ, and has been practicing Iyengar yoga since 2003.
